Happy Friday: Drinks on me!

I finished my first week of truly pitching stories and I have to say, g-d damn is that process a b####! Oy vey. Anyway, I’m off to meet my wife for dinner but before I leave I tried experimenting in making my own “coffee” tequila. And well, it worked! 2 shots silver or reposado tequila, 1 shot kahlua. Mix in a high-ball glass with ice. Voila! Just be sure to use good (100% agave) tequila. Happy Friday everyone!

Best Drinks…Ever!

The two best places to get drinks in the U.S. are The Violet Hour in Chicago and Tommy’s Tequila Bar in San Francisco. There are likely others but for quality, taste, and honest drinks you’d be hard-pressed to find better.

The Violet Hour is run by true drink nerds with amazingly creative talents. On top of that the bartenders are not only capable but eager to take your likes and creating something on the spot. I have found very few places confident and creative enough to do such a thing. And for that they have my undying love and respect.

Tommy’s is the simply the best for margaritas and ultra high quality sipping tequila. If you think Cuervo when tequila is mentioned you have got to make a trip to Tommy’s. They have near one hundred 100% agave tequilas! Every margarita (“nectar of the G-d’s” as they call it) is made to order with fresh squeezed lime and taste tested by the talented bartenders. Say hello to Julio, the owner, if you go!

Happy Friday and "What Horror Film Should I Watch?"

If you are a horror movie fan or just wanting to know what horror film to watch on any given day I just got the perfect book as a gift for Christmas (yeah, I know it’s January but apparently there was a hold up). Anyway, the book is Bryan Senn’s, A Year of Fear: A Day-by-day Guide to 366 Horror Films. It’s a fun read but what makes it especially valuable to me is that it helps narrow down my choice of what to watch and give a historical reason to back it up. For example, for today (January 17th) Senn recommends the 1963 schlock-fest “The Slime People“. The reason? It’s the anniversary of the death of Thomas Crapper – inventor of the flush toilet. I don’t know about you but that’s all the reason I need. Happy Friday! [okay, so it's Saturday...lets not get nit-picky]

May be “Sarcastic Friday” would be a better title. However, yes, our Republican lead country and state has now hit a new low, a 15 year record high unemployment rate. Bush’s America. Lower Standards. Alright folks, I am now officially engaged to my girlfriend of 4 1/2 years. We’ve been talking about it for awhile now so it’s not such “new” news for us but actually getting the ring and placing it on her finger has been very exciting and fun. But in the end, what has me happiest is the fact that each day together is better than the last. So, we have a lot of room to slip and slide over the years and I can not think of anyone else that I would like to do that with. I love you, Susie.

With this being Friday and all I usually try and post something fun. But I just read an article that makes me further hate Comcast (cable T.V. and Internet provider). Apparently they have shown their true colors as the Big Brother, censoring entity they are by being the first Internet provider to break Net Neutrality. Granted this isn’t a law, yet, but the fact that all other ISPs respect the tenants says a lot about what Comcast stands for (Big business, big brother, censorship). What does this all mean? Comcast has blocked the use of file-sharing networks because some people use these networks to share things like music. It’s comparable to your phone company cutting your service because some people use the technology to make “illegal” transactions. DUMP YOUR COMCAST INTERNET TODAY! There are so many other companies to rip you off…seriously.
